Mia runs our federal appellate and whistleblower protection practices. Her work focuses on complex civil litigation with a special interest in regulatory issues, the separation of powers, eminent domain, fraud, white collar crime, retaliation, and protected activity. Mia litigates novel constitutional issues involving agency power, regulatory takings, the Non-Delegation Doctrine, the Major Questions Doctrine, and jurisdiction.
Mia likes a challenge. She often represents individuals fighting government overreach or corporate corruption. She has extensive experience representing whistleblowers taking on large corporations and landowners fighting government-sanctioned seizures of private land.
In the eminent domain realm, Mia is an outspoken critic of the 5-4 decision in Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005) and has long advocated for its reversal.
In 2023, after years of contentious litigation in Washington, D.C., Mia achieved her first Supreme Court win when SCOTUS granted the petition for writ of certiorari that Mia authored, vacated the D.C. Circuit's 3-0 opinion, and reopened her clients' landmark Non-Delegation Doctrine case for further proceedings.
In 2016, Mia accurately predicted the shifting legal landscape surrounding agency power, including the revival of the Major Questions Doctrine and the anticipated demise of Chevron deference, years before the High Court revisited those hot-button issues.
Today, Mia continues to represent various entities fighting government overreach and landowners whose private property is forcibly seized against their will in constitutional disputes across the country.
Mia routinely handles high stakes litigation and has achieved a strong record of results.
Mia is not afraid to take on multi-billion dollar corporations; she frequently represents and advises high level executives, bankers, healthcare administrators, physicians, nurses, board members, vice presidents, CEOs, CFOs, COOs, directors, and investment advisors on sensitive employment issues & whistleblower protection. As a former defense attorney who defended large corporations and insurance carriers, Mia understands the defense mentality quite well and harnesses that experience to achieve success as a plaintiff's attorney.
